The maternity care system has not properly equipped us to value physiology or practice relationship-based care

  • Restricted access to continuity of care
  • Birth is medicalised and hospitalised
  • Midwives want to provide better care
  • Policy and workplace culture govern practice
  • Informed consent is a farse
  • Intervention is taking over physiology

Melanie is here to equip you with information and resources to help you break out of the restrictions placed on maternity care providers and reclaim physiological birth

EVIDENCE BASED RESOURCES

CONNECT WITH LIKE-MINDED PRACTITIONERS

CONFIDENT IN YOUR PRACTICE

Dr Melanie Jackson

I’m Mel (a.k.a Melanie the Midwife) a Midwife, mother, academic and podcast host. I've been a private Midwife in Australia for over 16 years. I have an academic research background and an eye and ear for research. I love turning the research into easy-to-consume packets of information.

Completing a PhD in midwifery, supporting women and having 2 home births of my own have highlighted the stark difference between what women want, what evidence shows and what the mainstream maternity care system is offering. My mission is to help you by providing evidence-based resources for pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
